What was the highlight of Royal Hotel Seoul
This was our first hotel on our trip to South Korea. We think we made the perfect choice as we had a lovely stay there.
This hotel had by far the most comfortable beds. It was in a perfect position for travelling around the area and the market was on its door step but once inside the hotel it was an oasis of calm. The breakfast was also very nice and the staff were lovely.
Everything was lovely. No negatives.

Great location, staff not so great
The bed in our room was massive and the hotel is in a great location. Just a doorstep away from the hustle and bustle in Myeongdong.
The staff were not helpful and friendly. I had asked the staff whether I could book a taxi to get to Seoul Station and he told me no - and then I asked how could I catch a cab and he proceeded to tell me that he can’t help me and I’ll have to find my own way. Lucky I found out that I could use Uber to get to the station. It was extremely disappointing more help wasn’t offered.

What was the highlight of Royal Hotel Seoul
Not Bad But Not Worth the Price
Aside from this room, I booked another room through another platform, and while the location is convenient if you’re planning to shop around Myeongdong, that’s pretty much the only strong point. The air conditioning is centralised, and unfortunately, it’s turned off every night, making the room unbearably hot. We had to sleep for five nights in 27°C heat. When I called the front desk, their only suggestion was to open the window—which completely misses the point of staying in a hotel that promises comfort. If I wanted to open a window to cool down, I could’ve booked one of the many cheaper options in the area. When I asked for help getting a taxi, I was told to find security and ask them instead. While I don’t mind doing things myself, I expected a higher level of service considering the price I paid. The room looked spacious in the photos, but in reality, it felt cramped—especially for bigger guests like us, despite the listed dimensions. As for the breakfast, it was great only on the first morning. After that, I honestly felt like walking out—if I hadn’t already paid for it, I probably would have. The staff also lacked warmth; no smiles, no hospitality. I even accidentally bumped into a waiter, immediately apologised, but was met with a cold, unfriendly stare. Overall, this hotel did not meet expectations, and I won’t be staying here again.
